India fast bowler Jaydev Unadkat has expressed his disappointment after being ignored for the overseas tours of Australia and England despite his brilliant performances in domestic cricket.

The left-arm pacer said that he was hopeful for his selection in India’s 20-member squad for the upcoming World Test Championship (WTC) final in Southampton and the five-match Test series against England.

Unadkat also pointed out that he is currently at the peak of his form and deserved to be in India’s squads for Australian and England tours.

The 29-year-old was the highest wicket-taker in the 2019-20 Ranji Trophy season as he picked up 67 wickets in 10 games at an average of 13.23. Notably, Jaydev Unadkat-led Saurashtra also won the tournament that season.

Speaking to Sportstar, Unadkat said, “I expect my selection in India team when I am at my peak now, when I have performed the way I have, I was hoping I’ll get the call somewhere down the line.

“And not being selected in that sense has been disappointing for sure. But having said that, I’ve got to keep doing what I’ve been doing. I am not going to allow my prime to pass just like that.”

Furthermore, Unadkat highlighted that his miserable outing in the IPL 2020 for the Rajasthan Royals might hamper his chances of selection for the tour Down Under.

“Maybe because I didn’t have a great IPL in 2020 and what they look for is current form. It was T20 cricket in IPL, but it was going to be red-ball cricket Down Under, but nowadays, they look at current form more than the format.”
