Cheteshwar Pujara Team India vice-captain IND vs BAN Test series
Speaking to Hindustan Times via Sony Sports Network, Kaif said that Rishabh Pant had that responsibility the last time India played.

Veteran Indian batter Cheteshwar Pujara’s struggle with the bat continued as he was dismissed without troubling the scorers on Day 3 of Saurashtra’s clash against Mumbai in the ongoing Ranji Trophy 2022.

In the first innings, he was caught in front of the wicket by debutant Mohit Avasthi, who dismantled Saurashtra’s top order.

A duck ahead of the India team selection for the two-match Test series against Sri Lanka in March might lead to his exclusion.

Pujara was India’s top scorer of the 2018-19 Border-Gavaskar series, where he amassed 521 runs in eight innings, which helped the visitors clinch their maiden Test series victory in Australia.

However, he has scored 1287 runs in 27 Tests since then. His last century came in 2019.

Earlier, Mumbai had declared their innings on 544/7. Sarfaraz Khan scored 275 while Ajinkya Rahane accumulated 129.
