The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has addressed fans' anger after the fourth T20I between India and South Africa in Lucknow was called off due to smog.

Overview:

Team sources speculated that the illness may have been caused by the food eaten at the hotel, but this has not been officially confirmed by hospital officials or team management.

Rajeev Shukla, who is the Vice President of the BCCI, shared his views on the illness that struck the Australia A squad during their series against India A in Kanpur. He suggested that the illness might be due to an infection and clarified that the food quality was not a problem.

Four players, including the captain, suffered from stomach infections, causing concern. Henry Thornton required hospitalization at Regency Hospital after his condition worsened, while the remaining three players were treated and discharged after standard medical procedures.

Team sources speculated that the illness may have been caused by the food eaten at the hotel, but this has not been officially confirmed by hospital officials or team management.

While talking to reporters in Kanpur, Shukla mentioned that the same food is being provided to all players from one of the top hotels, and if there was an issue, it would have affected everyone, not just a select few.

“If there was a problem with the food, all the players, including the Indian team, would have gotten sick. It must have been something else. They are being provided meals from one of the top hotels. Since only a few players have fallen ill, they might have caught an infection, and we are managing the situation,” Shukla said.

He then spoke about the logistical difficulties in Kanpur, “The problem is that there aren’t enough hotels. We require 300 rooms in a five-star hotel, which is not available,” he added.
