The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has decided to move on from Rajeev Kumar, who had been a crucial part of Team India’s support staff for close to ten years. His tenure officially ended following India’s recent tour of England.

Kumar, known for his dedication and presence throughout matches, training, and off-season camps, worked under head coaches Ravi Shastri and, later, Rahul Dravid. He was regarded as a consistent support figure, ensuring players’ recovery and well-being on and off the field.

“Its been a privilege and honour to serve Indian cricket team for a decade (2016-2025) thankyou god for the opportunity truly grateful and looking forward,” Kumar wrote on his Instagram.

As per a report by The Indian Express, the BCCI opted to replace him after team management recommended a new candidate for the role. A source familiar with the matter revealed, “The Indian board has decided to part ways with Rajeev. The Indian team had already selected a masseur, as recommended by the team management earlier,” a source from the BCCI was quoted as saying.

Rajeev Kumar took over the role in 2016 after the exit of Ramesh Mane, affectionately known as ‘Mane Kaka’, who had also been highly respected within the team. This marks the third notable change in the support staff since the Champions Trophy. Earlier, the team saw changes in the support staff, with assistant coach Abhishek Nayar stepping down and strength and conditioning coach Soham Desai being succeeded by Adrian Le Roux.

This will be their first T20I appearance since the England series earlier this year.
