Sunil Gavaskar has praised KL Rahul for leading India to a win in the first ODI against Australia at the Wankhede Stadium.
The Men in Blue bowled out the Aussies for 188. Rahul scored an unbeaten 75 off 91 deliveries as the Men in Blue chased down the target with five wickets and 61 deliveries to spare.
“KL Rahul has the technique and temperament but also needs luck. Just like Virat Kohli, he was getting out to his first mistake, but his body language didn’t use to be like his teammate,” he said on Star Sports.
The former captain was impressed with Rahul for taking India over the finishing line.
“Virat was confident despite getting out early on in the innings. You could not have said the same thing about KL. But he batted smartly against Australia in Mumbai and repaid the team management for the faith shown in him. He scored a fifty.”
