India’s Test and ODI captain Shubman Gill is expected to receive the prestigious Cricketer of the Year honour at the upcoming BCCI Naman Awards, according to a report by The Indian Express. The annual ceremony recognises outstanding achievements in Indian cricket across international and domestic formats.

In the same report, it was revealed that former Indian captain and legendary coach Rahul Dravid will be honoured with the Col. CK Nayudu Lifetime Achievement Award, one of the highest recognitions given by the Board of Control for Cricket in India. Meanwhile, Ayush Mhatre of Mumbai is set to receive the Lala Amarnath Award, presented to the best all‑rounder in India’s domestic limited‑overs competitions. Additionally, the BCCI is reportedly considering presenting a lifetime achievement honour to Mithali Raj, the iconic former captain of the Indian women’s team who played a transformative role in women’s cricket in India.

Earlier, the BCCI announced a massive cash reward of Rs 131 crore for the Indian men’s team following their triumph in the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. The victory was historic as India successfully defended their title, becoming the first team in tournament history to retain the T20 World Cup.

“The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has approved a cash prize of ₹131 crore for Team India in recognition of their victorious campaign at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026. The Board extends its heartfelt congratulations to the players, support staff, and selectors for this historic accomplishment and wishes them continued success ahead,” the BCCI said.

With this victory, India achieved another milestone by becoming the first team to win the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup three times. They also became the first nation to claim the title at home. Led by Suryakumar Yadav, India delivered a commanding performance in the final, defeating New Zealand by 96 runs.

The final match saw India post a massive total of 253/5, powered by a brilliant 89‑run innings from Sanju Samson, which laid the foundation for the team’s dominance. In the bowling department, Jasprit Bumrah played a decisive role, producing an exceptional spell of 4 wickets for just 15 runs, the best figures of his T20 international career.

For his consistent batting performances throughout the competition, Sanju Samson was named Player of the Series, finishing with 321 runs in five innings. Meanwhile, Jasprit Bumrah received the Player of the Match award for his match‑winning bowling display in the final.
