India head coach Rahul Dravid said the management is playing the waiting game on Jasprit Bumrah’s fitness ahead of the ICC T20 World Cup 2022. The pacer has been ruled out of the ongoing T20I series against South Africa due to a back injury.

He is at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru, going through rehab under BCCI’s medical team.

“Bumrah has been ruled out of the ongoing series and is currently at the NCA. We are waiting for the official confirmation of his injury. Currently, he is out of the series and not the ICC T20 World Cup in Australia. Let’s see what happens in a couple of days,” said Dravid.

The fast bowler was supposed to undergo scans at the NCA, but Dravid refused to reveal any details. He said they hope Bumrah regains fitness before the global event in Australia.

“I don’t have any update on his medical reports. He is under the supervision, and we will know in due course. We are still hopeful of his recovery before the World Cup in Australia.”
