Dravid reflected on his early days, recalling how visits to the stadium with his father ignited his passion for the game, making the recognition all the more meaningful.
Former India batter Rahul Dravid was emotional whenthe Karnataka State Cricket Association unveiled a stand in his honour at M Chinnaswamy Stadium. Sharing the tribute with Anil Kumble, the occasion marked a special milestone in Karnataka cricket history.
Dravid recalled the numerous memories he lived at the Chinnaswamy. He called the venue his “second home” and expressed his gratitude for the honor, cherishing the bond he shares with the stadium.
“This ground has always felt like a second home to me. As Anil mentioned, we’ve likely spent more time here than at our own houses. It has brought immense joy, occasional heartbreak, but above all, it has shaped me into who I am today,” Dravid said at the event.
“I will always be deeply grateful for everything the KSCA and this iconic ground have blessed me with in my life,” he added.
This is Brilliant. After Venkatesh Prasad becomes KSCA President, he made sure a stand gets named after the cricketing legends.

The Karnataka State Cricket Association, with former India pacer Venkatesh Prasad at the helm, gave a tribute to Dravid and Kumble for their monumental influence on Indian and Karnataka cricket. Also, Shantha Rangaswamy, who captained India’s women’s team, was lauded with a stand dedicated in her name.
For Dravid, the M Chinnaswamy Stadium isn’t just a venue, it’s the backdrop to his entire cricketing life. From his early days watching matches from the stands to eventually becoming Karnataka’s cricketing icon, the ground has been integral to his journey.
Dravid reflected on his early days, recalling how visits to the stadium with his father ignited his passion for the game, making the recognition all the more meaningful.
“I’m truly appreciative and honored that Venkatesh Prasad and his committee decided to name a stand after me,” he mentioned.
“My father has always been deeply passionate about cricket, and he played a huge role in nurturing my love for the game. He would bring me here regularly, whether it was for Test matches or Ranji Trophy fixtures,” Dravid recalled.
“As a young kid, whenever he took leave, he would always make sure I attended at least one day of the match. I think he would be incredibly proud today to know that his son has a stand named in his honor,” he concluded.
