Rohit Sharma has led India to victories across formats since replacing Virat Kohli. He is still undefeated, and the players are enjoying themselves under his leadership.
After defeating New Zealand last year, Rohit was unstoppable as a captain against West Indies and Sri Lanka.
His red-ball captaincy has started positively with India thumping Sri Lanka in the Mohali Test.
R Ashwin, who has been a part of the Indian team for a long time, is impressed with the way Rohit is leading India in international cricket.
The 35-year old recently revealed what makes Rohit a very special skipper.
“Rohit is tactically strong. He has added a human element to his leadership. He is looking after everyone in the team.
“The way he looked after Jayant Yadav, who was under bowled in the first Test, was very pleasing. Even for the declaration, he wanted Ravindra Jadeja to complete his double hundred. However, Jaddu asked him to declare the innings. Rohit is not new to the leadership, and I think he did a phenomenal job,” Ashwin explained.
India and Sri Lanka will next compete in Bengaluru for the day-night Test. The match starts on February 12.
