India captain Rohit Sharma has revealed why Ravichandran Ashwin was picked in the three-match ODI series against Australia despite playing only a few games in this format of the game.
The legendary off-spinner was surprisingly brought back in the team with Axar Patel injured and Kuldeep Yadav rested for the first two contests against the Pat Cummins-led outfit.
He feels Ashwin doesn’t need game time to perform in the fifty-over format of the game.
“With R Ashwin, the game time is not important as he has played over 100 Test matches and 100 ODIs. He is a champion bowler who knows how to perform in different conditions. The game time is in the head, and it is the experience that matters in the end,” he said.
