Team India’s off-spinner R Ashwin played a key role in his team’s 14th consecutive Test series win at home. He took 14 wickets and scored 70 runs in the two Test matches against New Zealand.
Earlier, he was dropped from the Playing XI for the Test series in England. He deserves to play in the upcoming Tests in South Africa.
Meanwhile, Ashwin won the Man of the Series award for the 9th time in his Test career. He equalled Jacques Kallis in the list, while surpassing Richard Hadlee, Imran Khan and Shane Warne.
Muttiah Muralitharan holds the world record of winning the most Man of the Series. He was declared the Man of the Series on 11 occasions in 133 Test matches.
