Shoaib Malik has backed Ramiz Raja’s idea of adopting the auction model to take Pakistan Super League to top level.

The chairman of the PCB wants to challenge the top billing of India’s premier T20 competition, and he is ready to change the functionality of the hiring process of players.

From draft system, the former player wants to move to auctions pretty much like the Indian Premier League. Reacting to the current status of the PSL and the changes required, Shoaib said – “If PSL has to go to IPL level, then there should be an auction model. IPL is a developed product, and it started many years before PSL, but moving to this model will increase the brand value further.”

While PSL is seven years old, the cash-rich league started in 2008.
