Priyank Panchal has been added to Team India after Rohit Sharma was ruled out of the Test series in South Africa. The 31-year old recently led India A in South Africa. The opener has scored 7011 runs at an average of 45.52 with 24 hundreds and 25 fifties.
In the 2016-17, he amassed 1310 runs to help Gujarat clinch the Ranji Trophy. In his interview with Times of India, he revealed the role played by Rahul Dravid in his success.
“When I became the India A Captain for the first time, I was excited, but Rahul Dravid sir told me to just be normal, keep going things like before. You have the ability, which is why you’ve been given this role. Those words really helped me,” Priyank Panchal said.
