Priyank Panchal has been added to the Test squad as a cover for Rohit Sharma, who pulled up his left hamstring in a practice session in Mumbai. The new vice-captain of the team is doubtful for the upcoming three-match series in South Africa.
The players have entered the mandatory bio-bubble for three days before the tour of the rainbow nation. The extent of Rohit’s injury is still unknown, and the BCCI doesn’t want to take any risk before the important series. The team is expected to depart on December 16.
A veteran of 100 first-class matches, Panchal was recently part of India A team which took on South Africa. He registered scores of 96, 24, and 0 in his three innings on tour.
