India pacer Harshal Patel and spinner Axar Patel were involved in a banter after the Men in Blue thumped New Zealand 3-0 in the T20I series.
After beating the Kiwis in Jaipur and Ranchi, India won the last and final game in Kolkata by 73 runs. India is the first team to clean sweep New Zealand in a bilateral T20I series both home and away. The team, under Virat Kohli, handed a 5-0 defeat to the home team in 2020.
Both Axar and Harshal played a key role in India’s victory at the Eden Gardens. Axar bagged the Man of the Match for taking 3 wickets inside the powerplay overs. Harshal dismissed two batters and also scored 18 runs off 12 balls earlier in the innings.
“It was a good feeling as I didn’t expect my debut game to go well because all my previous debut games haven’t gone as per plans. But I executed my skills, and the result went in our favor. We haven’t decided about it, but it seems like the Player of the Match will stay between Patels,” Harshal said in response to Axar’s query regarding his performance in a video posted by BCCI.
“I had skills before but was not able to deliver. However, the change of mindset has worked in my favor,” he added.
