Liam Livingstone
England all-rounder Liam Livingstone became one of the costliest buys of the IPL 2022 mega auction in Bengaluru.

Liam Livingstone had a brilliant IPL season with the Punjab Kings. The Kings bought him for a whopping INR 11.5 crore at the mega auction, making him the most expensive overseas buy.

The 28-year-old amassed 437 runs in 14 innings at a strike rate of 182.08. The player reflected on the season and said that it felt nice to perform as per expectations, and it also increased his chances to feature in the 2023 ODI World Cup in India.

He further opened up on how he failed in his previous two appearances in the league. Notably, Rajasthan Royals bought Livingstone in 2019 and again in 2021.

The player failed to leave an impression with the Royals and collected 112 runs in nine matches in both the seasons combined.

Livingstone, in conversation with ESPNcricinfo, said, ” It’s the biggest tournament in the world, so it was nice to be able to do well.  It was nice to finally get the monkey off my back.”

He also revealed his ambitions to fit into England’s white-ball squad and feature at the 2023 ODI World Cup.

“It was nice to have a clear role. We go away and play in the IPL so that we can become accustomed to their conditions and that ultimately will help England in the World Cup next year. Any experience you get around the world with World Cups coming up is a great thing to have so I enjoyed it.” added Livingstone.
