Misbah and Babar Azam
Misbah-ul-Haq blamed the PCB for weaking Babar Azam's position in the team

New faces took command of some key roles at the PCB last month. Najam Sethi took charge as the chairman for his 2nd stint and replaced Ramiz Raja.

Shahid Afridi replaced chief selector Mohammad Wasim as the new interim chief selector. Since these changes, skipper Babar Azam’s leadership has been criticised a lot more.

Despite doing good with the bat, the 28-year-old gets targeted during press conferences and is mostly asked about his future as Pakistan captain.

Azam, on most occasions, has kept his calm, but on rare occasions, it gets evident by his reactions that the outside noise has affected him.

There are reports that the PCB will sack Babar from the ODIs and Test captaincy and appoint Shan Masood and Sarfaraz Ahmed, respectively.

There is also a possibility of a rift between PCB and Babar Azam but all have maintained silence on the matter.

Meanwhile, Misbah Ul- Haq, whom Ramiz Raja sacked in September 2021 as Pakistan’s head coach, blamed the board for their attempts to weaken Babar’s position.

“I watch cricket all the time. And looking at the questions asked by the media, he is being weakened as a captain. I am afraid that it will have adverse effects on the dressing room.”

“If the board has any issue with Babar, they should sit with him and discuss it. These outside troubles resulted in poor performances against New Zealand and England. “

Misbah concluded by showing support to Babar and said he would back Azam till the end.
