Shreyas Iyer will be leading Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022, and the franchise is expecting a lot from the new captain. He was bought for a whopping INR 12.25 crore in the mega auction.
KKR bought back Pat Cummins for INR 7.25 crore. Earlier, the Australian Test skipper was not retained by the two-time champions.
He recently recalled sharing the dressing room with Shreyas Iyer when the two players were associated with Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals).
“I played with him at Delhi Daredevils, and we got on well. He seems to be a very chill and calm guy. I am excited to go over there, and I have some close friends,” Cummins said during a press conference in Lahore.
Cummins will be handy for Iyer, considering his captaincy experience. The Indian batter was unstoppable during the T20I series against Sri Lanka. Iyer remained not out in three matches and scored more than 200 runs.
Meanwhile, Cummins is currently in Pakistan for a three-match Test series, which stands at 0-0 after the first two Test matches.
