Ahmed Shehzad got injured in BPL

The 9th edition of the Bangladesh Premier League got underway on January 6, with seven teams competing in a 46-match tournament to clinch the title.

Players from Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and Pakistan are participating in the league, and the likes of Naseem Shah, Shakib-Al Hasan, Mehidy Hasan, Shaheen Afridi and Ahmed Shehzad are part of the tournament.

Talking of these names, Ahmed Shehzad hogged the headlines on Saturday after he was injured in his first match of this season.

The 31-year-old, who has had a controversial international career, was once touted as the next big thing in cricket. However, disciplinary issues and regular controversies resulted in his exclusion from the India national cricket team.

Ahmed Shehzad was dubbed as Pakistan’s Virat Kohli due to his resemblance with the Indian star. Also, his playing style and scoring rate added more to why people referred to him as Pakistan’s Virat Kohli.

Shehzad, the leading run-scorer in the BPL’s first edition, is playing for Minister Group Dhaka in this edition.

In an unfortunate event, in the ongoing match against Khulna Tigers, Shehzad was hit on the elbow on the 7th delivery of his innings and had to retire hurt after scoring just four runs.

The fans took to Twitter to post the video of his injury.

The extent of Shehzad’s injury is unknown, but it is unlikely that he will participate further in this match.
