Virat Kohli has moved up two places to seventh after registering 79 and 29 in his last match as Test captain.

Virat Kohli’s untimely resignation from Test captaincy was met with surprise and shock. Despite Test series defeat against South Africa, nobody saw this coming as India are still number one in the longest format of the day. The 33-year old was congratulate by millions and joining the list, Ahmad Shahzad, the explosive Pakistan opener, took to Twitter to salute the champion and fearless cricketer.

“That flare of passion with which you led your side was visible in your captaincy. It’s been 7 years of fearless leadership, quality spirit of cricket and a great ambassadorship of the game. Best wishes for the future bro @imVkohli, keep rocking,” he said.

India won 40 Tests out of 68 during Virat’s tenure. He took over from MS Dhoni in 2014 when the side was ranked 7th in the world but with his vision and hard work, Kohli took India to the pinnacle of Test cricket.
