She was dismissed in the third ODI against New Zealand in a bizarre way.

Under-fire Harmanpreet Kaur is having a torrid time in her international career, with former skipper Diana Edulji demanding the axing of the right-handed batter. She was dismissed in the third ODI against New Zealand in a bizarre way.

It was the 28th over of the Indian innings, with Kaur batting on 13 off 21 balls. Harmanpreet stepped out of the crease to hit a big shot while facing Frances Mackay. However, she couldn’t do it, and the ball went straight into the hands of the bowler.

The Kiwi spinner was smart as she immediately threw it back to the wicket-keeper Katey Martin, who dislodged the bails in a fraction of a second before Harmanpreet could return back to the crease. The result extended her poor form with the bat.

Earlier, Edulji also said that she should be sacked from T20 captaincy as well and replaced by Smriti Mandhana.

“She should be removed from captaincy as she is hardly scoring runs.” Since 2017, the 32-year old has scored 2 fifty-plus scores in the ODIs. In the ongoing tour of New Zealand, she has amassed 33 runs in 3 matches at an average of 11.

As for the game, New Zealand won by 3 wickets to take a 3-0 lead in the series.
