Australian batsman Steve Smith is currently playing his trade for New South Wales (NSW) in the ongoing edition of Australia’s domestic Sheffield Shield and Marsh Cup (50-over) tournaments.

The 32-year-old isn’t a part of Australia’s squad for the ongoing five-match T20I series against New Zealand after their Test tour of South Africa was called off. Thus, he is indulging in domestic cricket.

NSW have played two Sheffield Shield games (1L, 1D) and one Marsh Cup (1W) game so far (all 3 games vs Victoria). In the Marsh Cup game, Smith played a sublime knock of 127 runs off 124 deliveries and was adjudged man of the match.

On Wednesday, Smith organized an interactive Question and Answer (Q & A) session on his Instagram handle with his fans and followers and answered a variety of questions related to his personal and professional life.

While responding to one of the fans, Steve Smith lauded West Indian wicketkeeper-batsman, Nicholas Pooran, and labelled him his favourite T20 players at present.

“If you could have any foreign player in the Australian team who and why?” a fan questioned. “What format? My current favourite T20 player in Pooran. What a beautiful pure swing,” Smith answered.

Smith also shared his thoughts on the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) and said that he’ll be supporting their arch-rivals England, who are currently in India for a full-fledged series.

India and England are currently locking horns in a four-match Test series. India lead the series by 2-1 and need to avoid defeat in the final Test to qualify for the WTC final.

But, if England, who are already out of the race to qualify for the WTC final, win the game, Australia will join their Trans-Tasman rivals, New Zealand, in the final, which will be played at the Lord’s later this year.

“Great concept. I’ll be cheering for England this week. Not sure you’ll hear me say that again though,” replied Smith. The fourth and final Test will be played from Thursday, March 4 in Ahmedabad.
