Ishan Kishan was the costliest player in the IPL 2022 mega auction and rejoined Mumbai Indians (MI) for INR 15.25 crore. The five-time champions were keen to get the player, and they got him in the end.
Ishan had a base price of INR crore, but he got a whopping price. However, he didn’t get the most bids during the auction.
He is second on the list of players who drew the highest bids. As per ESPNcricinfo, uncapped pacer Avesh Khan drew the maximum bids. Five franchises bid for the former Delhi Capitals’ star pacer.
Lucknow Super Giants bought for INR 10 crore. During the bidding war, 62 bids were made for Avesh.
He is also the first-ever uncapped player to get INR 10 crore in an auction. The previous record was held by Krunal Pandya, who had joined MI for Rs 8.8 crore in IPL 2018 mega auction. Shahrukh Khan, Rahul Tewatia and Liam Livingstone got 54 bids by different teams.
Shahrukh rejoined Punjab Kings for Rs 9 crore while Tewatia got the same amount from Gujarat Lions. Livingstone will play for Punjab Kings after purchasing him for INR 11.5 crore.
Meanwhile, Deepak Chahar was the second costliest player as he got INR 14 crore from Chennai Super Kings for IPL 2022.
