Gujarat Titans have decided to replace Jason Roy with Rahmanullah Gurbaz, the hard-hitting Afghan opener, for the IPL 2022, meaning no return for Suresh Raina, who went unsold in the mega auction. Roy had pulled out of the tournament due to bio-bubble fatigue.

Gurbaz has a strike rate of 150-plus and is also a handly wicket-keeper. The 20-year old has hit 113 sixes in 69 T20 games.

He has represented Afghanistan in 9 ODIs and 12 T20Is so far.

Gujarat Titans are yet to officially announce Gurbaz’s signing as they wait for the clearance from the BCCI.

The management has taken inputs from Rashid Khan before agreeing to sign the talented player.

His arrival will solve the wicket-keeping issue as Matthew Wade will only be available in the second week of IPL.

They have Wriddhiman Saha, but he is not an accomplished T20 player. Gurbaz has been a part of Multan Sultans and Islamabad United in the Pakistan Super League, Kandy Tuskers in Lanka Premier League and Khulna Tigers in Bangladesh Premier League.
