Rachin Ravindra, the 21-year old New Zealand cricketer, scored just 7 in the first T20I of the series. Rachin is a portmanteau of former greats Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid. He is from Wellington who was born to Ravi Krishnamurthy and Deepa Krishnamurthy.
His father played cricket in Bengaluru and founded Hutt Hawks Club in New Zealand. Ravindra, who has represented New Zealand in two U-19 World Cups, has played in India during off-seasons in New Zealand.
“I’ve trained, played at RDT (Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh) every year in the last four years during our winter,” Ravindra was quoted by Telangana Today.
“My batting idol is Sachin Tendulkar. I have modelled my game on him since I was very young,” Rachin had told Stuff.co.nz way back in November 2016.
He made his international debut against Bangladesh in a five-match T20I series.
