India are up against New Zealand in their second match of the ICC T20 World Cup. The Men in Blue last defeated the Kiwis in an ICC tournament in 2003. Since then it has been a one-way race with New Zealand thumping India across formats in the global events. Be it a T20 or 50-over World Cups, India have faltered against New Zealand.

Former Blackcaps opener and current White Ferns assistant coach, Rob Nicol, is backing the Kane Williamson-led team to come on top in Dubai. Speaking to Sportskeeda, he highlighted New Zealand’s superior record against the sub-continent team.

“I am obviously biased towards New Zealand (laughs). We’ve got an amazing match on our hands if you look at it purely from a fan’s perspective. India haven’t beaten us in ICC tournaments since 2003 – what a stat [it is],” he said.

When he was asked about the inclusion of Kyle Jamieson in the playing XI, he said: “Our coach [Gary Stead] and captain [Kane Williamson] have repeatedly talked about match-ups, so I am not sure whether he [Jamieson] fits into the scheme of things. I think Adam Milne could be a straight swap for the injured Lockie [Ferguson] because they both bowl in the same speed zone.”
