Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by 6 runs in the sixth match of IPL 2021 and went top of the table with two wins from as many outings, so far in the tournament.
Chasing a total of 150, SRH were cruising at 96/1 after 13.1 overs. However, the departure of skipper David Warner (54 off 37) paved the way for a middle-order collapse. Shahbaz Ahmed bagged three wickets in the 17th over to reduce SRH to 116/5.
Rashid Khan did play a late cameo (17 off 9 balls) but his wicket in the final over saw the game slip away from SRH. Apart from Nadeem, Harshal Patel and Mohammed Siraj bagged two wickets each while Kyle Jamison picked up one wicket.
Earlier, RCB had posted a total of 149/8 on the back of Glenn Maxwell’s maiden fifty in RCB colours, and his first in 5 years. Virat Kohli also did well for his 29-ball 33 while Kyle Jamieson wacked three boundaries at the death to take RCB to a defendable total.
For SRH, Jason Holder and Rashid Khan took three wicket and two wickets, respectively, while Bhuvneshwar Kumar, T Natarajan and Shahbaz Nadeem also picked up a wicket each. Here’s how Twitter reacted to RCB’s win:
