England spinner Rehan Ahmed, who will play in the third and final Test against Pakistan in Rawalpindi, has revealed that his father left the Multan stadium after the visiting team scored 823/7 in the first innings of the opening Test. His father doesn’t like Pakistan losing the game, but he hides that fact.

His father, Naseem, was born in Pakistan but moved to England with his wife in 2001. Rehan was born in a European country, and his brothers Raheem and Farhan also started playing cricket in England but haven’t been able to play for the national side.

The 20-year-old recently said that his dad doesn’t want any team to do well against the Men in Green.

“We scored over 800 runs against Pakistan, and my dad left the stadium and went home, which was four hours away. He couldn’t see this team getting anything out of the contest. He tried to hide, but I can tell you that he doesn’t want Pakistan to lose. He always wants England to do well, but he doesn’t want us to do that well where his favorite team ends up losing the match,” he told BBC Test Match Special.

Although Pakistan had scored 556 in their first innings, they were beaten by an innings and 47 runs. However, the Shan Masood-led team bounced back and won the second match by 152 to level the series.

Rehan lauded the England team management and captain Ben Stokes for allowing them to go for prayers.

“Baz, Stokesy and the management team have allowed us to go for prayers and then cricket comes after. We did Friday prayer with the Pakistan team. We want to their team hotel and Mohammad Rizwan led the prayer. England rearranged the team meeting to allow us to pray,” he concluded.
