MS Dhoni and Gautam Gambhir was instrumental in Team India’s World Cup triumph.

Gautam Gambhir has been quite vocal on India’s World Cup victory in 2011. The left-handed batsman, who played a match-winning innings of 97, has time and again stated that it was the team’s effort that took India over the finish line.

He feels every individual contributed to the success story and giving credit to one or two players was not right. Around a year back, Gambhir had chided a website for making it appear as if the Men in Blue won the World Cup because of MS Dhoni’s six.

“Do you think that only one individual won us the World Cup?  If one individual could have won the World Cup, then India could have won all the World Cups till now. Unfortunately, in India, it’s only about worshipping certain individuals. Can you forget Zaheer Khan’s contribution? Can you forget what Yuvraj Singh did against Australia? Or for that matter, Sachin Tendulkar’s hundred against South Africa? If one six can win you the World Cup, then I think Yuvraj Singh should have won six World Cups for India,” he said.
