Ambati Rayudu and Ravindra Jadeja were invited by MS Dhoni to join him in receiving the IPL Trophy following the Chennai Super Kings’ (CSK) victory over the Gujarat Titans.
CSK secured their fifth Indian Premier League title in an intense match in Ahmedabad on Monday night. The thrilling contest saw CSK emerge victorious on the final ball, with Ravindra Jadeja hitting a crucial four to seal the championship.
The CSK required 10 runs from the last two deliveries, and after the Titans’ bowler Mohit Sharma had only conceded three runs in the first four balls, Jadeja smashed a six on the fifth ball and ended the game with a four towards fine leg.
The foundation of CSK’s win was laid by Devon Conway’s 47 runs at the beginning and Ambati Rayudu’s impressive cameo in his final IPL innings. Rayudu, who came to bat in the 11th over of the rain-shortened 15-over game, played a quick innings of 19 runs off just 8 deliveries. He struck a four and two sixes before getting out two overs later.
Mahendra Singh Dhoni displayed a touching gesture towards Ravindra Jadeja and Ambati Rayudu following their victory. During the post-match presentation ceremony, Dhoni invited both players to join him in receiving the IPL trophy. Rayudu has now unveiled the reason behind this heartfelt gesture.
According to Rayudu, Dhoni personally reached out to him and Jadeja before the ceremony, expressing his desire for them to be a part of lifting the trophy. Rayudu expressed his admiration for Dhoni’s thoughtfulness, emphasizing that such a gesture had never happened before. He described it as a testament to Dhoni’s character and how he is perceived worldwide. Rayudu considered it an incredibly special moment orchestrated by Dhoni.
