Chennai Super Kings (CSK) fast bowler Tushar Deshpande has expressed his gratitude towards captain MS Dhoni for his support and guidance during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 season.
Deshpande acknowledged that Dhoni has consistently stood behind him, even during challenging times. He firmly believes in following the advice of his CSK captain, as he trusts that it will lead to improvements in his game. Deshpande shared his experience of playing under Dhoni’s leadership in an interview with The Indian Express.
Having someone to provide guidance and support when things aren’t going well is reassuring. Deshpande praised Dhoni for his selflessness and straightforward approach to handling situations.
Dhoni doesn’t complicate matters and stands by his teammates during tough phases. Deshpande sees himself as a dedicated follower of his captain’s instructions, firmly believing that Dhoni will never lead him astray.
It is worth noting that Deshpande was signed by the Chennai-based franchise at his base price of ₹20 lakhs before the previous IPL season. Although he only played three matches in 2022, he played a crucial role in the team’s success this time around.
Deshpande emerged as CSK’s leading wicket-taker in IPL 2023, with 21 wickets from 16 matches. In the final, MS Dhoni and his team secured their fifth IPL title with a thrilling five-wicket victory (by DLS method) over the Gujarat Titans (GT).
