MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings (CSK) is likely to become the first IPL franchise to land in the UAE for the remaining matches of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021.

MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings (CSK) is likely to become the first IPL franchise to land in the UAE for the remaining matches of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021. The franchise is planning to leave in the second week of August. Last year as well, the Chennai based franchise was the first team to reach UAE.

Kasi Viswanathan, the CEO of CSK, confirmed to Cricbuzz that Dhoni and other domestic players will leave for UAE by August 13. “We’re planning to leave by August 13. All domestic players, including skipper MS Dhoni, will leave that day for Dubai,” he said.

CSK are placed second in the points table after winning five from seven games. However, they had a poor run last year when the league was played in the UAE. MS Dhoni-led team had finished seventh in the points table.  Sam Curran and Moeen Ali, the two-star all-rounder will be available due to the postponement of the Bangladesh tour.

The 2nd phase will start on September 19, with CSK taking on defending champions, Mumbai Indians in the first game.
