Former India captain MS Dhoni has undergone knee surgery in Mumbai. The hospital and Chennai Super Kings sources informed Cricbuzz that the operation was successful and Dhoni is perfectly fit.

He was expected to remain in hospital for two days but late in the evening it emerged that he had been discharged.

CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan revealed that he spoke to Dhoni after the surgery. “He is doing fine after his surgery. I don’t know about the exact nature of the surgery but we were told that it was related to key hole,” he said.

Dr. Dinshaw Pardiwala, a sports medicine specialist who had previously operated on Rishabh Pant, treated MS Dhoni. The 41-year old was admitted to Kokilaben Hospital in Mumbai. Dhoni’s wife Sakshi was with him.

What is a key-hole surgery?

Keyhole surgery is another given to arthroscopic surgery. It is not an open procedure and the whole knee is not opened. It is a small insertion in three or four points around the knee through which cameras and tools are inserted which are needed to carry out the procedure. The healing time is around three months.
