Former Pakistan speedster Shoaib Akhtar has welcomed James Anderson to Pakistan for a three-match Test series. He recalled how the England pacer overshadowed his record delivery in the 2003 World Cup in South Africa.
Akhtar had bowled a 161.3 kph against England in Cape Town. While Pakistan restricted England to 246 runs, James blew the rivals away with figures of 10-0-29-4 to register a 112-run victory.
Speaking to The Guardian, the Rawalpindi Express accused Jimmy of ruining his day and happiness.
“Mr Anderson, you played against me in 2003 and spoiled my day! You blew us away when I achieved a record and ruined my happiness. He is a brilliant bowler, and it will be fantastic to see him bowl in Pakistan again. It’s been nearly 18 years since he was here, and now he is back again for the battle,”‘ said Shoaib.
