Former India player and the captain of the 1983 World Cup winning team, Kapil Dev, has urged the current cricketers to move on from the setback of losing the final of the global tournament.
Australia stunned Team India in the title shot match of the ICC World Cup 2023. Chasing 241 for their sixth title, the Pat Cummins-led team completed the task after losing just 4 wickets.
Travis Head’s century was the best innings of the contest and he was named the Player of the Match.
Speaking to journalists, Kapil said that sportsmen should move on and plan for the next day.
“They should move on and plan for the next day. You can’t keep the defeat close to your heart. I understand about fans but as a cricketer you can’t undo what has happened. As a cricketer you should work hard,” he said to ANI.
“I don’t want to say anything about their performances as we all saw the World Cup. The players performed well. I know they couldn’t cross the final hurdle and it is important to learn from mistakes,” he added.
India lost just one match in the recently concluded World Cup
