Mohammed Siraj has been shortlisted for the ICC Player of the Month award for August 2025 in recognition of his impressive performances against England. Joining him on the men’s shortlist are New Zealand’s Matt Henry and West Indies pacer Jayden Seales.
Siraj played a match-winning role in India’s six-run victory on the final day of the fifth Test at the Oval. He claimed 5/104 to secure his fifth five-wicket haul in Test cricket and helped his side defend 374 runs. In the two innings combined, he produced career-best match figures of 9 for 190, helping India draw the series 2-2. Over the course of the five-Test contest, he topped the wicket charts with 23 dismissals in nine innings, which featured two five-wicket hauls.
Jayden Seales, the West Indies pacer, played a role in his team’s historic 2-1 ODI series triumph over Pakistan, their first since 1991. The 22-year-old fast bowler collected 10 wickets in three games at an average of 10 and an economy of 4.10. His standout display came in the deciding fixture, where he returned with the figures of 6/18 to dismiss Pakistan for 92, securing a 202-run win.
Henry was magnificent, winning the Player of the Series award in New Zealand’s 2-0 victory over Zimbabwe in Bulawayo. The experienced seamer picked up match figures of 9/90 and 7/56 in successive Tests, guiding his team to emphatic wins.
In the women’s category, Pakistan wicketkeeper-batter Muneeba Ali, Ireland all-rounder Orla Prendergast and Dutch bowler Iris Zwilling have been nominated.
