Suryakumar Yadav WTC Final
Harbhajan Singh has backed the decision, calling Ajinkya a team player.

On Monday, March 13, India booked their seat in the World Test Championship Finals as New Zealand beat Sri Lanka by two wickets. Also, the Border-Gavaskar Trophy concluded with the final game ending in a draw, resulting in India clinching the series 2-1 to win their fourth consecutive Test series against Australia.

The series brought out several positives from the Indian side. Ravindra Jadeja looked in great shape, and Virat Kohli got back among runs and broke his century drought. However, other than the entertainment, several other instances caused a stir on the internet. One such was a couple of days ago when the crowd targeted Mohammed Shami with religious chants.

Famous journalist Rajdeep Sardesai, on March 12, took to Twitter, where he posted a video in which the Indian players were getting ready to enter the field when a few members of the crowd hurled ‘Shami Jai Shri Ram’ slogans at the right-arm seamer.

“‘Shami Jai Shri Ram..’ slogans at the India Aus cricket match in Ahmedabad. Now you decide whether this is the appropriate slogan for an India cricket test match. Or is this a political rally or religious meet?,” tweeted Sardesai.

Indian skipper Rohit Sharma reacted to the query during the post-match press meet and stated that he is hearing such things for the first time and is unaware of such chants.

“I am unaware of such chants for Shami. I am hearing it for the first time. I do not know what happened on the field.”
