Shami was impressive in the first two Tests of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy but was not included in the Playing XI in the third Test.

Mohammed Shami was fast, accurate and deadly in the first innings against South Africa. He took a five-fer and completed 200 Test wickets as well.

Shami is the third fastest Indian pacer to achieve the landmark. He took 55 matches, while Kapil Dev (50 matches) and Javagal Srinath (54 matches) faired better than him.

Overall, he is the ninth fastest Indian.

He is second in the list of most five-fers by Indians in South Africa.

Shami has taken four five-fers in SENA countries.

Meanwhile, South Africa were dismissed for just 197 in their first innings. Apart from Shami, Jasprit Bumrah and Shardul Thakur took two wickets each. Earlier, India scored 327 in the first innings.
