Indian cricket icon Mithali Raj highlighted a similar captaincy trait she shares with MS Dhoni. She recalled maintaining a calm demeanour on the field as a leader, much like Dhoni.

Dhoni, one of India’s most successful captains, is renowned for his composed and unflappable nature during matches. However, it’s well-known that he has occasionally delivered stern words to his players in the middle. Mithali Raj shared that, just like the former men’s captain, she refrained from shouting at her team on the field and instead chose to speak to them closely when needed.

“I haven’t spoken much to him, but players often say that Dhoni approaches them and scolds them directly. I do the same, I give them a look that makes them know I’m upset, or I walk up to them and tell them. I don’t raise my voice on the field. Dhoni also doesn’t shout much on the ground. Today’s captains don’t rush to their players but tend to shout from a distance,” she shared in an interview with The Lallantop.

Mithali Raj’s captaincy record includes leading India in eight Test matches, where she achieved three wins, one defeat, and four draws. Mithali Raj captained India in 155 One Day Internationals, achieving 89 victories, which resulted in a win rate of 57.41%. Additionally, Mithali led the side in 32 T20 internationals, registering 17 wins and 15 losses.
