Aussie wicket-keeper batter Matthew Wade admitted that he intentionally stopped Mark Wood with his hand while the latter was trying to complete the catch during Australia’s first T20I against England on October 12.
Wade mistimed the shot and obstructed the bowler from taking a catch. However, England skipper Jos Buttler didn’t appeal against the batter.
Wade realized that he had made a mistake after seeing the replays.
“It looked horrible when i saw the replays after the match. Kane Richardson told me that I pushed Wood,” Wade was quoted as saying to cricket.com.au’s The Unplayable Podcast.
“Everything happened so fast that I didn’t realize I was wrong,” he added.
Wade stayed unbeaten on a run-a-ball 10, but the hosts lost the contest by eight runs.
