The final of the ODI World Cup 2023 was won by Australia at the Narendra Modi Stadium. The Men in Yellow performed well in all departments of the game to clinch their sixth World Cup title on November 19.
The Aussies were given a target of 241 runs by India. The visiting side lost David Warner, Mitchell Marsh, and Steve Smith early in the innings. Marnus Labuschagne was welcomed with verbal volleys by Virat Kohli and other players.
Labuschagne revealed what he did when Virat and other cricketers went after him. The 29-year-old said that he could not hear anything due to the loud noise from the fans.
“It could not hear anything as fans were shouting from the stands. The Indian side had just got rid of our third batter, and the fans were jumping and making noise in excitement. The Indian players were getting into me and I told them that nothing was going into my ears,” Labuschagne said in his latest newsletter, My World Cup Final Wrap.
The right-handed batter scored 58* runs in 110 deliveries, whereas Travis Head smashed 137 runs in 120 balls. Their partnership of 194 runs ensured that Australia defeated the Rohit Sharma-led team by six wickets. Jasprit Bumrah took two wickets, while Mohammed Shami and Mohammed Siraj added one each to their bowling figures.
