Marnus Labuschagne is in Pakistan to participate in the upcoming three-match Test series against the host nation. Despite a rare blip in the last few Ashes Tests against England, he has had a stellar career so far.
He is the number one batter in ICC Test Rankings and has scored runs at an average of nearly 57. However, 17 of his 23 red-ball matches have been at home and none yet in the sub-continent.
In his exclusive interview with Cricbuzz, the right-handed batter lauded R Ashwin of India. The Indian off-spinner had a successful Test series in Australia. Marnus recently revealed what makes Ashwin the best in the game’s longest format.
“The reason Ashwin has a good record is that he is a great thinker of the game. He is always thinking of getting you out. Ashwin knows about the strokes of a batter and how to counter them. That’s what makes him really good. Not all bowlers are like that. Some bowlers have variations, but the thinking of getting you out that’s a special skill. I think Ashwin has played on plenty of tracks where he has had to create the work; he has to create the angles,” he said.
Ashwin will turn up in a two-match Test series against Sri Lanka. In 84 Test matches, he has taken 430 wickets at an average of 24.38.
