India cricketer Manoj Tiwary is not pleased with the performance of KL Rahul as the team's captain.

India cricketer Manoj Tiwary is not pleased with the performance of KL Rahul as the team’s captain. He even questioned the logic behind going ahead with the 29-year old as skipper. KL Rahul lost all the four games he led India in South Africa.

He made the stand-in skipper in the absence of Virat Kohli in the second Test. At the same time, he got the responsibility in one-day internationals after regular captain Rohit Sharma failed to recover on time for the fifty-over games.

While speaking to Sportskeeda, Manoj Tiwary stated that Captaincy is inherited and can’t be taught to a person.

‘What did they see in him? Suddenly he is being groomed as a future captain. I don’t understand how can you groom a captain as a person is either a born leader or he isn’t. Captaincy comes naturally; it’s an inbuilt quality. Grooming a captain is a long process, and even then, success is not guaranteed,” said Tiwary.

He was more disappointed with the selectors for bringing Rahul on board as a leader.

‘I am not blaming KL KL Rahul, but I am disappointed with the selectors, who should identify leadership skills in a cricketer rather than grooming a captain,” he added.
