Kolkata Knight Riders’ top order batter Mandeep Singh scripted an unwanted batting record against his team’s outing against Royal Challengers Bangalore on Thursday, April 6. The 31-year-old, who was dismissed on a golden duck in the ongoing game at Eden Gardens, registered the most ducks in the history of IPL.
Mandeep, who made his IPL debut in 2010 with Kolkata Knight Riders, left behind Rohit Sharma and Dinesh Karthik’s tally of 14 ducks to have 15 ducks to his name in the IPL. Before the game, Singh already held the record with Rohit and Dinesh Karthik but is now the sole holder of this embarrassing feat. Here is the list of most ducks in IPL.
- Mandeep Singh – 15
- Dinesh Karthik – 14
- Rohit Sharma – 14
- Piyush Chawla – 13
- Harbhajan Singh – 13
Mandeep has played just 97 innings in IPL and has 1694 runs, at an average of 20.91. Further, in the ongoing season, Singh scored just two runs in the first game and got out on a golden duck against RCB.
KKR are in deep trouble in the game, as the Riders have lost five wickets for 100 runs after 12 overs. Notably, the Nitish Rana-led side lost their season opener game against Punjab Kings and are seventh on the table.
