Lungi Ngidi was associated with Chennai Super Kings, but the South African pacer was not retained by Chennai based franchise for IPL 2022. He bowled well in the recently concluded matches against the visiting Indian team.

In his recent interview with Times Now, the fast bowler was asked about the 15th season of the league and two players who will set the competition on fire.

He has seen the growth of Ruturaj Gaikwad and Shardul Thakur during his time with MS Dhoni-led team in the tournament. Lungi went with his two former teammates.

“I think Ruturaj Gaikwad and Shardul Thakur are really going to set the IPL on fire. I’m really excited to see Ruturaj Gaikwad again, you know what de did last season and Shardul Thakur has really been doing well in International Cricket,” said the Proteas bowler.

While Gaikwad was retained by the four-time champions, Shardul was released ahead of the mega auction. He is likely to go for a huge sum considering his performance in the recent international games.

Ruturaj was the highest run-scorer in the 14th season of the league. Thakur, on the other hand, played a key role in CSK’s title winning campaign. Both of them will play in the upcoming white-ball series against West Indies.
