Lucknow Super Giants are set to part ways with mentor Zaheer Khan ahead of the 19th season of the Indian Premier League. The legendary pacer joined the franchise for IPL 2025 after Gautam Gambhir left the team to join the Kolkata Knight Riders. Zaheer’s contract was for one year, and Lucknow are not interested in extending it.
Zaheer was also fulfilling the responsibility of the bowling coach. LSG finished 7th in the 18th edition, with just 12 points from 14 matches. Zaheer has worked with the Mumbai Indians in the past. Meanwhile, Bharat Arun has joined LSG as bowling coach. Arun was associated with KKR, but after an eighth-place finish in 2025, the franchise decided to change the coaching staff, with Abhishek Nayar and Dwayne Bravo set to play big roles.
Chandrakant Pandit, the head coach of KKR, has also left the team.
