The pressure is mounting on Dinesh Karthik after he failed in the last few games. The management wants him to play the role of a finisher, but he hasn’t been treated properly. During the first T20I between India and Australia in Mohali, Axar Patel batted ahead of him.
While Axar failed, it also prevented Karthik from going for his shots, and he was dismissed after scoring six off five balls.
Matthew Hayden and Ajit Agarkar have questioned the call to keep Karthik for the death overs.
“I was thinking about the role of Dinesh Karthik. He should be batting more, but it is not happening,’ said Hayden.
“I think he should bat up the order as he can play shots,” he added.
Ajit Agarkar also agreed with his views. The former India pacer said it is important for India to use Karthik fully.
“I find it very strange with Karthik. He can come before the 16th over. It happened in South Africa, and the same thing was repeated against Australia as Axar batted ahead of him.”
