Former Pakistan captain Mohammad Hafeez said Virat needed a break from cricket to get back to his best.

The national selectors have rested Virat Kohli for the ongoing West Indies matches and the upcoming Zimbabwe tour. The veteran is likely to come back for the Asia Cup 2022.

Former Pakistan captain Mohammad Hafeez said Virat needed a break from cricket to get back to his best. Hafeez also spoke about Hasan Ali and explained why he should have gotten a break long ago because of severe mental pressure.

“Virat is facing the same problem as Hasan. He needed a break because of mental pressure. Their decision to rest Virat was best for him,” said Hafeez on Dawn.

According to him, Virat has lost his impact in cricket. “Virat Kohli is an impact player. But he has lost his impact in the last 2-3 years. Even his half-century against Pakistan in the ICC T20 World Cup was impactless. There is no point in playing until you can’t bring back your impact,” he added.

“Every player requires a break. The Indian selectors made a good decision.”
