Kuldeep Yadav is hopeful that he will keep his spot in white-ball teams for the Sri Lanka tour, having missed the bus for the UK tour. Kuldeep, who has played 7 Tests so far, was pipped by the likes of Axar Patel and Washington Sundar for the UK tour.
Despite admitting that he would’ve loved to help the team in England, Kuldeep hopes to be a part of Team India for the upcoming limited-overs series against Sri Lanka. Both sides will play 3 ODIs and as many T20Is in July.
“I am disappointed not to be part of the Indian team because I wanted to go and perform and contribute to the team’s win. These things happen, yes you are sad, but at the same time you are ready to perform in the next opportunity,” Kuldeep Yadav was quoted as saying by India News.
“I didn’t go there, so hopefully I will go to Sri Lanka and get the chance to perform there. Cricket should continue happening, every player is sad when he is not in the team, everyone wants to remain in the team but sometimes the situation is such that you are not part of the team,” he added.
Kuldeep was also a part of the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) squad during IPL 2021. However, he did not play a single game before the tournament was suspended last month due to the COVID-19 outbreak.
Meanwhile, Virat Kohli-led Team India will be in England for the upcoming WTC Final against New Zealand, followed by the five-match Test series against England, starting August 4.
