In the wake of the explosion near Delhi’s Red Fort, Kolkata Police have increased security ahead of the India vs South Africa first Test at Eden Gardens. The visiting and home sides will be closely monitored during their time in the city.
A powerful explosion in Delhi on Monday evening resulted in the deaths of 13 people and left 24 others injured. The cause of the blast is still being examined.
Delhi Police Commissioner Satish Golcha said that the blast happened around 6:52 pm.
“An explosion took place in the vehicle, damaging nearby vehicles as well,” Golcha said, adding that officials confirmed the explosives were intended to “spread terror across Delhi.”

Security arrangements at the team hotels have been ramped up. CAB officials met senior police officers to finalise plans.
